Loretta Alice Harney

July 16, 1937 - February 15, 2021

Loretta Alice Harney, 83, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 23 years, formerly of Westborough, MA, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 in Cape Coral. She was born July 16, 1937 in Jersey City, NJ to George and Mary Biedenkapp, the youngest of seven, all now deceased.

Loretta was preceded in death by her grandson, Sean Matthew Harney in 2014.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, William Robert Harney of Cape Coral; three loving children, William R. Harney of North Fort Myers, Lori-Anne Harney of Cape Coral, and Kelly Harney Furgason and son-in-law Aaron Furgason of Point Pleasant, NJ; four of her five grandchildren, William A. Harney, Timothy Harney, Emerson Furgason and Michaela Alex Furgason; two great grandchildren, Andrew Eick-Harney and Rosalie Harney.

Loretta was of the Catholic faith in both word and deed.  She found the beauty of God in every person she met and in the smallest detail of life. Whether as a Wife, Mom, Nan, Godmother, Aunt, Friend, she always welcomed anyone and everyone with a smile on lips and kind words from the heart.  To those she loved, every meeting began and ended with a loving hug, kiss, and the words “I love you”.  This was who she was and inspired us all to be.

She loved a good book, mystery, musical, and game of Bingo, Pokeno or Uno especially when they included weekly family dinners with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and their friends.  She could tell you a 5 minute story in the joy of an hour and write her heart’s poetry to you in 5 minutes.

She will be remembered in all that is good, beauty, and love.

Loretta desired a small private service with just her husband, children, and grandchildren in attendance.  There are no formal services planned.  She instead, requested that her family and friends please say a Mass or Prayer for her at their place of worship.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Loretta Alice Harney are suggested to be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, her charity of choice: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
