Lorraine Hillemann Winpenny

October 12, 1922 - May 7, 2020

Lorraine Hillemann Winpenny, 97, a resident of Ft. Myers, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020.  Lorie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 12, 1922 to Harry and Florence Hillemann.  Her childhood was spent in Audubon, New Jersey where she graduated from Audubon High School.  She joined the Navy where she was a cartographer stationed in Washington D.C. She worked at Atlantic Oil Company.  On January 22, 1955, she married Donald Winpenny.  They raised two children, Lesley and Michael. 

Lorie played golf and bridge.  She was a horse enthusiast.  You could find her riding her dressage horse well into her later years.  In addition, she competed in many carriage driving competitions as a member of the Moore County Driving Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. For many years, she co-owned a dress shop, The Green Grape in Lancaster, PA.  Her sense of style was impeccable. She was a true “glamour queen” always beautifully dressed and accessorized. 

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 67 years Donald, two children, Lesley and Michael, their son-in-law, Robbie, a grandson, Nathaniel, one nephew, and two nieces. 

There are no formal services planned at this time.
