Maria Guadalupe Garcia

Maria Guadalupe Garcia, 72, a longtime resident of Lee County, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Ft. Myers. She was born September 6, 1944 in Eagle, CO to Jose and Flavia Narnajo, now deceased.

Maria retired from the Lee County School District after 30 years of service. She will be remembered for all of the help that she provided the migrant families. She was very devoted to her faith and lead the choir for countless years at Jesus the Worker. Maria was very giving of her time especially when it came to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Pilar Garcia of Ft. Myers; four loving children, Pilar Garcia, Jr. (Norma) of Ft. Myers, Nora Donato-Hitchcock (Mark) of Alva, Reynaldo Garcia (Mattie) of Port Charlotte and Blanca Ortiz (Miquel) of Arkansas; five sisters; one brother; eight grandchildren as well as 12 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burialwill be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Jesus the Worker Catholic Church, 881 Nuna Ave, Ft. Myers, 33905 with Father Patrick O’Connor officiating. Burial at Lee Memorial Park will follow. The Family will accept friends for a time of visitation 9:00 AM up until the time of service.
