Maria Luisa Coba Carrillo

August 15, 1935 - February 14, 2022

Maria Luisa Coba Carrillo, 86, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2014, formerly of Mexico, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, in Cape Coral. She was born August 15, 1935, in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico to Mercedes Carrillo and Gerardo Mercedes Coba, now deceased.

Maria was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Andrews Catholic Church and St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church. She was a very happy woman, always joking around, she liked opera music, instrumental, and of course dancing music (cumbia), she enjoyed dancing. Her favorite Mexican singers were Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, and Vicente Fernandez. She also enjoyed golden time Mexican movies, she laughed, and it was pleasant to see how much she enjoyed it. Her favorite American sport was watching figure skating during the Olympics.

She enjoyed coffee and cookies, and her favorite Mexican dish was mole poblano. Edwin used to make shrimp ceviche because seafood was another big deal for her. Of course she loved many Yucatan traditional dishes made by her kids, and her favorite fast food was Pollo Tropical, oh yes! She wouldn’t even look at you when she was eating it, but what she loved the most was drinking a glass of coke with her meals, oh yes!!! She could not get enough of it! She used to sneak out to the kitchen in the middle of the night and get a drink out of the fridge. If you want to make her happy and see her face with a big smile, offer her a glass of coca cola!!!

Luisa adored her grandkids and great grandkids. She saw them grew up, most of them in Mexico and USA, what a gift! She missed all of them! She had a good life, even though she was far from her hometown, she always wanted to return to Merida.

She believed in God and liked to pray. She misses her beloved husband, we are sure they are now together, beside her Parents, family members and friends, especially her best Friend Irma. She always liked to talk about the good times with Irma, she was her friend since childhood. I am sure they are happy in Heaven.

She is survived by her loving children, Gabriel Angel Gomez of Mexico, Jose Ariel Gomez (Rosario) of Mexico, Mercy D. Graeter (Eric) of Cape Coral, Gabriela Gomez-Fussell (Aaron) of Cape Coral, and Edwin Gomez of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Sugely G. (Carlos), Javier (Cindy), Alejandro, Cindy (Rolando), Gabriela (Gilmer), Ricardo (Shamel), Cesar (Natalia), Patricia (Max), Alejandra (Rafael), Fernando, Eric, Ariel Shae, Kathy E., Aaron, Andrew; twenty great grandchildren; as well as her brother, Manuel and nephews.
