Maria Teresa De Los Reyes

August 9, 1917 - October 8, 2020

Maria Teresa De Los Reyes, 103, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2008, formerly of Spotswood, NJ, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Punta Gorda, FL. She was born August 9, 1917 in Havana, Cuba to Gerardo Martinez and Josefa Abreu, now deceased.  Maria Teresa was of the Catholic faith.

She was known as Mima, Teti, and Tete.  Maria Teresa lived for her family, helping raise her 3 granddaughters.  She had a passion for literature.  Her love of reading, writing, and reciting her favorite works was evident in her everyday life.   Everyday she wrote her own little passages in the black and white marbled composition pad that she nestled in her nightstand.  Words of great wisdom, and love.  She loved recounting stories of her beautiful, colorful youth in Cuba.  She took great pride in her appearance, every lock of hair perfectly positioned, her eyebrows perfectly arched, nails always painted, and her clothing always pressed and tailored.  She was a strong woman, with a gentle heart.  I’d like to share some of the things she wrote, and her favorite sayings so that her words will live on in her memory.

“El sabio no dice todo lo que piensa, pero piensa todo lo que dice”.

“Sea cortes, ande con cuidado, eduquese lo mas que pueda, respite para que te respeten, y que Dios nos ampare”.

“Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres”.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ileana Sardinas (Rosendo) of Cape Coral and Orquidea Reyes of Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Isabel Perez (Adrian) of Cape Coral, Danielle Reynolds (Jarod) of New Jersey and Nicole Frey of New Jersey as well as four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Dail, Ileana Dail, Jaxon Reynolds and Sofia Reynolds.

Maria was predeceased by her husband, Rigoberto Reyes, who passed in 1985.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
