Marvin Delane Walker

December 1, 1956 - February 24, 2015

On February 24, 2015 an Angel eased into Hope Hospice and took the hand of our beloved Marvin Delane Walker and carried him for “A Closer Walk with Thee”, a peaceful sleep for eternity.

Marvin was born December 1, 1956 in Bethlehem, PA to the late Henrye Esther Walker Singleton and Daniel Rice. He was the stepson of the late William Walker and Curtis Singleton.

Marvin was a 1976 graduate of Freedom High School where he was the first African American quarterback.

Marvin loved sports and played both baseball and football in high school. He was a diehard Steeler Fan and loved watching all sports on t.v.

Marvin was a member of Second Baptist Church in Bethlehem as a child. He attended the Vineyard Community Church of Cape Coral were he volunteered his time to the feeding the community.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Walker; grandson, Ashton Thompson of Tampa, FL; five sisters, Willina Walker (Les) of White Oak, PA, Willette Walker, Rosie Stanton, Mollie Stanton all of Bethlehem, PA and Michelle Troupe of Atlanta, GA; three brother, Wilfred Stanton (Jeanette) of Bethany, PA, Michael and Anthony Stanton of Lancaster, PA. Survivors also include, aunt and uncle, Robert and Mary Robinson; and special friends, Beverly Balk and Clint Rayner; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Corey Jordon and his two brothers, William and Henry (Glenn) Walker.

In Florida, Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care. In Pennsylvania, Jesse Johnson Funeral Home, Allentown, is entrusted with final care.
