Mary Ann Jacobs
Mary Ann Jacobs, 85, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 1996, formerly of Brooklyn, MI, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in Cape Coral. She was born December 9, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Mary Karwoski, now deceased.
Mary Ann was of the Methodist Faith and attended Hope United Methodist Church in Cape Coral along with her husband Gerald. Mary Ann was active in the church Bible Study and potluck dinners. Her eldest son was born when Mary Ann was just 16, but she went on to finish her education and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked for over 25 years at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. Mary Ann and Gerry retired and moved to Cape Coral in 1996. Mary Ann and Gerry loved to travel and went multiple times abroad and even drove to Alaska.
Mary Ann was an avid quilter and specialized in unique applique. She belonged to the Cape Coral Quilters’ Guild for 25 years along with SW Guild for a couple years and the Nimble Thimble Quilters’ Guild. She won a ribbon for one of her entries in the SW Guild many years ago. She was president of the Cape Coral Quilters’ Guild for a time and also Vice President. She also taught quilting classes. She made many lasting friends through the Guild and went on various retreats with them. She made special quilts for all her children and grandchildren with their names on a corner of the quilt. Her quilts were stunning.
She is survived by three loving children, Allen Jacobs (Mary) of Matlacha, FL, Richard Jacobs (Debbie) of MI, and Jennifer Harken (Dan) of Royal Oak, MI; nine grandchildren as well as four great grandchildren.
