Mary Ann Sivright

December 8, 1953 - January 2, 2022

Mary Ann Sivright (nee Welcenbach), 68, a resident of N. Ft. Myers FL, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, in Cape Coral, FL from surgery complications. She was born December 8, 1953, in Milwaukee, WI to Peter & Mae Athene Welcenbach.

Mary was the first born to a family of seven siblings. She grew up on Calumet Hill Farm in Milwaukee, WI with her brothers and sisters. After graduating from Milwaukee Madison High School, Mary married James H. Sivright III, ending in divorce.

She loved the warm climate of Florida and spent most of her years there. While in Florida, she would send up boxes of grapefruit to her parents which were always welcomed. Her parents would travel occasionally to Florida to visit during March Madness. For many years she would send Christmas gifts to each family member. Mary was artistic and produced unique paintings. Other interests included reading, puzzles and games, dancing, gardening, and art.

She loved all animals. In her younger years she rode a horse called “Tag”. Over the years, she had numerous cats, birds, and dogs that she loved dearly. She would never turn down a stray or orphaned animal that showed up at her doorstep. Besides loving animals, she was sentimental, keeping cards and gifts from her loved ones.

Mary was a strong, independent woman who loved managing her own business. For many years she had a thriving retail business at Fleamasters, Florida. She was good on the computer and opened her online business, Albino-Rhino, selling Flags.

Mary’s best friend, Debbie Allen, was with her in her final hours. Sincere thank you for the tender care and love you showed our sister with family being so far away. We know that the angels helped guide Mary and that she is now in good hands. Mary was of the Catholic faith and born on the feast of St. Mary.

She is survived by her six siblings, Barbara (Lee) Born of Berlin, WI, Karen (Hank) Scheffner of Union Grove, WI, Thomas Welcenbach (William Goetzke) of Milwaukee, WI, Diane Welcenbach of Santa Barbara, CA, Steven (Susan) Welcenbach of Menomonee Falls, WI and Ruth Welcenbach (Clint Peterson) of Wauwatosa, WI; nieces, Maggie Scheffner, Vanessa (Mark) Brotske, Erin Welcenbach, and Kira Welcenbach; nephews, Travis (Nicole) Born and Ryan Welcenbach; as well as her three dogs, Whitey, Punky and Peeky Poo.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022, at the American Legion Post #351 in Fort Myers for all her Florida friends.

Another party in her honor will be held in Milwaukee, WI sometime this summer.

Memorial Contributions in Memory of Mary Ann Sivright are suggested to the family c/o Mullins Memorial, 1056 NE 7th Terrace, Cape Coral , FL 33909.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

Mary, faithfully for about 10 years that I know of, came across town to come to St. Vincent’s Catholic Church to read the readings. We looked forward to see her each week. When she didn’t come I got concerned. I went to see her at the flea market. That is when she asked me to pray for her. She will be in my prayers. Everyone who knew her, liked her. Mary, I know you can see this, never doubt that your gentle presence was noticed and loved.

I looked Mary up for our 50th reunion this September and didn’t see her listed. I checked her Facebook page and communicated with her sister Barbara. I was hoping to get down to Florida to see you. I lost my husband this October. So much loss. Prayers for your family. Mary.
