Michael “Mike” J. White
Michael John White, 74, a resident of Fort Myers, FL for the past eight years, formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in Fort Myers. He was born June 28, 1944 in Libertyville, IL to Clarence and Mildred White, now both deceased.
Mike attended and graduated from Blessed Sacrament in Springfield, IL, and was a life-long member of the parish. He was a loving father to his 5 kids, an adoring grandfather, and a faithful and loving husband to his wife. He was a second-generation locksmith and owner of A-1 Lock, succeeded by his son. Mike will be remembered for his dedication to charities, including St. Johns Breadline and the EWTN. Upon moving to Fort Myers, FL he attended the Church of the Resurrection and St. Columkille Catholic Churches. He loved the game of bridge and all who played against him. He was a wonderful Santa to his adoring female fans while sharing witty comments to make everyone smile. Mike’s joy in life was to bring happiness to everyone around him. He has never met a stranger and always had a joke up his sleeve. The patriarch of this large Catholic family will be dearly missed; however, his legacy of charity and love of family will live on for many generations.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Pam White of Fort Myers; five loving children, Joe White (Kelly) of Springfield, IL, Shelli Petterchak (John) of St. Louis, MO, Ray White (Janice) of Springfield, IL, John White (Abby) of Jacksonville, IL, and Drew White (Katie) of Orange Beach, AL; sister, Sue Goering of Springfield, IL; twelve grandchildren, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Joey, Pamela, Jack, Adam, Alex, Emma, Lilly, Burke, Milly and Laurel; two nieces, Mary and Chrissy; as well as Bear the dog and Lucy the dog.
Michael was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Grace Petterchak.
Memorial Services will be held in Springfield, IL at Blessed Sacrament Church. Mass will start at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 19,2018 for those who wish to attend.
