Michelle Renee Antoinette Magona

May 30, 1970 - June 22, 2020

Michelle Renee Antoinette Magona, 50, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2006, formerly of Margate, FL, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 in Cape Coral. She was born May 30, 1970 in Kingston, Jamaica.

Michelle was of the Christian faith. Worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years and was the go to person for all events planning within the family. She was passionate about her family and friends and loved spending time and laughing with them.  She was the life of the party.

Michelle met her best friend Amy in Middle school and grew into adulthood together. They became more sisters than friends. Michelle’s nieces would actually ask to see their Amy instead of Michelle which became the running joke in the family.

Michelle enjoyed entertaining and was an amazing cook. She thoroughly enjoyed creating new recipes and mixed drinks. Feeding people was one of her passion.

Mush as she was known to her immediate family would always end her conversations with her brother and sister with the words “Peace Out”. So we say Peace out little sister, until we meet again!

My Michelle, my wife, my life, my soulmate, my best friend and world. Your love was the most special part of me. You were my focus, made me think. You had the biggest heart of anyone and was the best to everyone you knew and worked with. You always put a smile on my face. When we first met, you worked for the hotel and me, the restaurant company and we butted heads until we sat down one day. I asked her out and fell in love. We had adventures to Parrot Jungle, took a canoe trip and attended several Halloween Horror Nights and many others together, to when we actually got married.  We got dogs and had to get married for them. They were the best for us. Over 20 years she made me whole and taught me so much. I was complete. I will miss Michelle; she was the love of my life. She is the candle light of my life that will never go out. I am honored to have had the time and love with her that felt like a life time. I Vincent Magona will always and forever love Michelle Magona – my friend, my love. Thank you for being my wife and my world. I love you!

She is survived by her beloved husband of 21 years, Vincent Magona of Cape Coral; loving father, Ranie George Hitchman of  Cape Coral; dogs, Dixie, Patches, and Nuggett; as well as two siblings, Jacqueline Lynch (Jonathan) of Cape Coral, and Christopher Hitchman (Cecilia) of Summerville, SC.

Michelle was preceded in death by her mother, Pearline Marjorie Phillips.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Friday, July 10, 2020 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916. It is heartbreaking to have lost Michelle so early. She was full of light and energy and had a positive vibe making it a pleasure to be around her. I’m sure she is going to be organizing some great parties in Heaven. My heart goes out to family and friends and especially you Vince! I can’t imagine how difficult this is for you. Know she will always live in our hearts and memories.

My heart is broken. Michelle provided me so many wonderful moments and memories. She was a genuine, compassionate, funny soul that loved to share her positive energy with friends and family. We enjoyed countless laughs and many sentimental times together that I will treasure forever. They say the brightest stars are those with the shortest lives. Michelle was most definitely a bright star. My heart is with Vince, her father, sister, brother, nieces, nephews and the long list of dear friends she treated as family. ❤️

My little cousin Michelle whom i have known from her tender age of 5+ was always a joyful loving little girl on Morton Park Terrace, Kingston 10. She was very close to Jacqueline always busy walking about the house to find someone to play with, having two platting with bubbles on each side. She adored nursey the household helper and always wanting to contribute to whatever was happening. We always saved her mango from the tree in the back garden. Being the youngest is always listening to the elders around here. She was always smiling and if she cried someone denied her justice. RIP my cousin, may your soul be well with your creator.

Oh my heart is broken. After Pearline died at such a young age, my Mom and I became like surrogate Grandma and Mom to Christopher, Jackie and Michelle. It was a sad day when they left New York for Florida, but no matter how long before seeing each other, when we meet the years apart became like minutes. Oh Michelle I cannot believe you are no longer with us here on earth. But I believe you are in the hands of God and being hugged by your Mom, Grandma and by Mama. Vince please accept my condolences….I can just imagine how devastated you must feel.

Rest In Peace my baby .

I can’t imagine what my visits to Florida will be like now without Michelle. She lit up the room when she walked in…her huge smile, her bear hugs, and that infectious happy personality will be missed. I’m so very thankful to have known you and shared lasting memories with you in this lifetime. Rest well my dearest Mush….until we meet again.

Saddened by the passing of my lovely cousin Michelle

I first met her whilst the family lived in Queens New York in the 1970’s
During my visit if I was in Queens I would go and collect her after school. Somehow she managed to “route march” me into all the pizza parlours for a slice of Pizza and then to finish of with a hot dog and a soda at the apartment block. What memories.

We met Vince at their wedding and could see what a great match they were and more recently to catch up again at India’s wedding.

Always cheerful and forever will be remembered love Stuart Denise and Family (London)

Michelle, I remember you fondly…I first met you in Jamaica when we visited in 1977…your enthusiasm and love for life was evident to see. You were also reunited with us in Florida, and I am glad I got to know you as an adult too. God’s speed, Michelle.. Sorely missed..

I worked with her at BAM and she was like a second mom to me. I’m so heartbroken that she is gone. She was such a ray of light, it was truly impossible to be in a bad mood around her for long. She gave me so much advice, was there for the beginning of my relationship with my wife, talked me through any problems I was having. I just can’t even….I missed her bad already since I moved but now I’m truly heartbroken. I know someone as amazing as her is in a good place with all the romance novels she could ever need.
