Morton Baird Burness

February 2, 1931 - May 30, 2022

Morton Baird Burness, 91, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past six months, formerly of Silver Springs, MD, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 in Cape Coral. He was born February 2, 1931 in New York City, NY to Jack and Anne Burness, now deceased.

Mort was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School and was in the printing business for over 40 years. He retired from Editors Press in Hyattsville, MD after more than 20 years of service. Mort and his wife would spend many weekends searching for ice cream memorabilia. They were long time members of the “Ice Screamers” organization. Mort was also a lifetime member of the Masons Lodge in Kensington-Bethesda, MD #198. 

He is survived by his loving son, Mike Burness and his wife Linda Burness of Cape Coral, FL; as well as a grandson, Michael David Burness and fiancé Gena, Carter of Austin, TX.

Morton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara (Bobbe) Burness in 2012; as well as a son, Scott Burness.

No formal services are planned at this time.

    Very sorry to hear this news. Cousin Morty was always a good friend and our families were close throughout my childhood and beyond. He was a fine photographer, and photographs he took of members of our family remain wonderful keepsakes. We will miss him.
