Morton Ray

January 19, 1928 - November 17, 2018

Morton Ray, 90, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 30 years, formerly of North Virginia, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Cape Coral. He was born January 19, 1928 in Lewisport, KY to Urey and Ella Mae Ray, now deceased.

Morton invented, owned and operated Ray Electric Outboard Motors located in Cape Coral. He was proud of his business, as his electric motors are sold all over the world; and the motors he produced in the late 70’s are still operational today! Morton was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He graduated from West Point Academy and earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology.

He is survived by three loving children: Sandy Honeycutt (Preston) of Pompano Beach, FL, Reba Ray-Killen (Ray) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Douglas Morton Ray (Laurie) of Sandwich, MA; seven grandchildren; as well as five great grandchildren.

Morton was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy Agnew Ray. He will be laid to rest next to her AT 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19th, 2019 in Lewisport, KY.
