Peter M. Consol

September 7, 1944 - April 5, 2020

Peter M. Consol – Cape Coral, FL/Walworth, NY was called to his eternal resting place on April 5, 2020, after suffering a massive stroke at age75.

He graduated from Aquinas Institute and R.I.T. and was employed at Xerox.  An avid sports enthusiast, he was a fan and a participant.  His special trait was extending assistance and wisdom to those in need. During the COVID19, the ICU at Gulf Coast Hospital in Ft. Myers, FL and Dr. Newman never wavered on providing him with extraordinary compassionate care.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Ginegaw). Besides his lifelong friends, Pete is also survived by a host of family members as a proud and loving cousin, nephew, brother-in-law, uncle and great uncle.

He was predeceased by his parents, Natalina and Peter J. Consol and brother-in-law, Clem Ginegaw, whom he shared a special bond.

In Pete’s honor, please contribute to a charity of your choice that is helping to fight the pandemic health crisis.

Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

Pete was like a father I never had. I often called him “Father Pete.” He taught me many principles that I adhere to like the importance of curb appeal. Although I have an attention to detail, he helped me to fine tune that skill and many others. The most important principle he solidified was a slogan written on his garage wall that was the epitome of what Pete lived by and what I live by, but never had a slogan for and goes, “Never wait for tomorrow what can be done today.” He lived it to the “T” and it has long been my business philosophy. My biggest regret with Pete was I didn’t get to know him sooner. Although I knew Pete for about 5 to 6 years, I could have learned so much more. I remember praying to God that we could have a good relationship with our neighbors. (we were thinking of our neighbors right next door) God though answered the prayer with a neighbor two doors down with Carol giving me a call needing help with the yard (not knowing I was her neighbor). What a wonderful good neighbor Pete and Carol has been! You should know Pete had one request before he went. “Take care of Carol.” The Bible commands, ” Honour widows that are widows indeed.” – I Tim The Bible particularly says to look out for widows over 60 years of age in this chapter. Please give Carol a call from time to time and see if she should have need of any assistance. You would honor Pete, you would honor Carol, and most of all you would honor God. Rest in Peace with your Savior Jesus Christ Pete. Until we meet again!

Carol and Pete are like my family. I love them. They are great neighbors. Pete gave us his ventilator to serve others. I was impressed with his death as I was his life. I love to spend time with them. Please pray for their family.

Peter offered me my first position in distribution at Xerox. While he was told by Human Resources he couldn’t hire me because I was from another organization, he didn’t take that as a final answer. Needless to say I spent twenty years in distribution of my twenty five years with Xerox thanks to Pete. We were both proud Aquinas alumni and often compared stories from our years there. God rest his soul and my deepest condolences to Carol and his family.

Wow, reading all the notes that people wrote there were constant flashbacks just from the names and comments. All of the ski references, of course, were really vivid but I think most of Pete’s Ski Club presidency was with Scott. My guy was Pete Peterson and Pete followed him as President.
My flashbacks and memories related to Pete C were from golf and softball. I remember lots of players,
Al DeLuca, Collotti, Fekete, Millonzi, etc. but for the life of me I can’t remember the name of the team. I do remember being undefeated in an A League one year and then having to play Dunphy in the playoffs. The other Pete C. highlight for me is the Hummers Open that they did at Sodus every year and the prestigious Toilet Seat Trophy. Scott, Buck and I won two years in a row, once with Pete Hartmeyer. The next year “the Hummers” took care of us and gave us Larry Bonk as our fourth; we did not win!
Your note to Ron Cottrell about your goodbyes to Pete also took me back 30 years (this year) and saying goodbye to Patty under very similar circumstances. Awful time.
I do want to tell you the story that meant the most to me so long ago. Somewhere within a year after Patty died, Len Schmitt, a retiree came to my office. You might remember him he had lost his daughter in an automobile accident years before. He gave to me the most meaningful sentiment of all the people prior when he said, “Steve, it does not get any better, you just get better at it.” I don’t think I knew at the time how true those words were. I relayed those words to Chris and Kate and they will still recite them today as the most meaningful thing I ever said to them.
I saw Len 6-8 years ago and told him the story again. We were both in tears at the time.
Not sure it’s very helpful now but keep his words somewhere locked away because one day they will mean something to you as well.
    Steve

Pete was a good friend during our 4 years at AQ and after.
I helped get him his first job after college at the Schlegel Corp where we worked together.
I remember going to his house on Bedford St in the late 60s for pizza and Saturday Nite Live.
    He was special!

Carol, my sympathy on Pete’s passing. He and I went through school together – at St. Francis Xavier School on Bay Street and at Aquinas Institute on Dewey Avenue in Rochester. He truly enjoyed encouraging people to be the best they could be. It sounds like he continued to do that throughout his life.

I was just last night sorting through pictures and found many from my days working at Xerox with and for Pete, so many years ago. About an hour later I got a text saying he had passed. Pete was a pleasure to work for and I learned a lot from him. I think my first business trip was with Pete My sympathy to Carol and his family and friends. He was one of the best and I will always remember working with him as a highlight from my years at Xerox.
