Ressie Dix, Jr.

Fort Myers, FL

I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the light

Born in Moore Haven, Florida on June 1, 1942, Ressie was a lifelong resident of Fort Myers. My dad was a carpenter by trade and spent much of his career working for Lehigh Corp building homes with an eye for perfection like no other. In the mid-1980s, along with his brothers, he built structures for the World’s Fair in New Orleans. Ressie enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse-racing, dancing, cold beer and Dolly Parton. He was liked by all and never met a stranger.

Ressie is survived by his daughter, Nita Gould, son-in-law Scott Gould Sr., and his son, Buster Dix; his grandchildren, Scott Gould Jr., Melissa (Coty) Davis and Jared Phelps; his great-grandchildren, Tyson and Paisley Davis; as well as his six brothers and four sisters.

He was predeceased by his father, Ressie Dix, Sr.; his mother, Violet Dix; as well as one sister.

Ressie would also want to mention his love for his Flint brothers by marriage.

Memorial Services will be held 6:00 PM Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00 PM until the time of service.

Daddy, always remember we are under the same sky, looking at the same moon, I Will Always Love You.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fort Myers, is entrusted with final care.

You will always be rem embered as one of the best carpenters in Lee County. For you were good as the best and better than the rest
But you were the best big brother a man could ever have.

This truly has ripped my heart out..I love you and will miss you to the moon and back. It’s been the hardest 3 months to see you through a window, not able to hug you touch you and most of all to help you… Dad I have great memories you was always the type to give and never was the type to want you would do wrong things to make it right for others so that you could fulfill your friends and family needs.. My childhood hood and adult memories of you will be cherished in my 💔 I will always love you.. I hear you calling my name over and over… 😥 I wish I had one more day to rub and hug you but you left this crazy world hearing me tell you I love you!!🌹
