Ressie Dix, Jr.

Fort Myers, FL

I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the light

Born in Moore Haven, Florida on June 1, 1942, Ressie was a lifelong resident of Fort Myers. My dad was a carpenter by trade and spent much of his career working for Lehigh Corp building homes with an eye for perfection like no other. In the mid-1980s, along with his brothers, he built structures for the World’s Fair in New Orleans. Ressie enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse-racing, dancing, cold beer and Dolly Parton. He was liked by all and never met a stranger.

Ressie is survived by his daughter, Nita Gould, son-in-law Scott Gould Sr., and his son, Buster Dix; his grandchildren, Scott Gould Jr., Melissa (Coty) Davis and Jared Phelps; his great-grandchildren, Tyson and Paisley Davis; as well as his six brothers and four sisters.

He was predeceased by his father, Ressie Dix, Sr.; his mother, Violet Dix; as well as one sister.

Ressie would also want to mention his love for his Flint brothers by marriage.

Memorial Services will be held 6:00 PM Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00 PM until the time of service.

Daddy, always remember we are under the same sky, looking at the same moon, I Will Always Love You.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fort Myers, is entrusted with final care.
