Richard Elwyn Nelson

Richard Elwyn Nelson, 87, a resident of St. James City on Pine Island, FL (formerly of Hypoluxo, FL, Wolfeboro, NH, and Foxborough, MA), passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in Cape Coral. He was born May 6, 1933 in Brockton, MA to Carl Raymond Nelson and Ruth Carlberg Nelson, now deceased.

Richard was a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. He attended Babson College and he owned and operated the Crawford Press in Brockton, MA for 40 years.  Richard was a private pilot and a boat captain.  He and his family spent many years summering on Lake Wentworth on Wolfeboro, NH.

He is survived by five loving children (and their respective spouses): Gregory Nelson, Jean Nelson-Buck (Gregory), Amy Haverly (Brad), Eric Nelson (Jennifer), and Julie Gagnon (Joe); twelve grandchildren; as well as eight great grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Dwan Nelson in 2016; a daughter, Margaret Pettis; as well as a sister, Rosalie Hakansson.
