Robert “Bob” Donald Civil
Robert “Bob” Donald Civil, 88, a resident of Fort Myers Beach, FL since 1989, formerly of Wayne, NJ passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at his residence. He was born February 7, 1928 in New York, NY to Thomas and Florence (Wolf) Civil, now deceased.
Bob was a United States Navy Veteran. After his time in the Navy Bob married the love of his life, Catherine Becker on March 31, 1951 at St. Anastasia Church in Teaneck, NJ. He was a graduate from the University of Alabama in 1953 and became a licensed engineer in 1960. Bob started a very successful HVAC contracting firm in 1966 and just celebrated the 50th year of business in March of 2016. He built his family home in Pines Lake, Wayne, New Jersey where he resided for 32 years. Bob enjoyed traveling and boating; he was a member of the Boardwalk Caper Yacht Club in Ft. Myers Beach. Bob loved the Glen Miller Band, Nat King Cole and Mel Torme.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Catherine BeckerCivil of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; seven children, Pat Civil of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, Mike (Colleen) Civil of Hewitt, NJ, Catherine (Anton) Schreck of Vernon, NJ, Mark (Judith) Civil of Colchester, VT, Kenneth (Roseann) Civil of Cape Coral, FL, Jean Civil of Kinnelon, NJ and Matthew (Kristen) Civil of Kinnelon, NJ; one sister-in-law, Joan Civil of Wildwood, FL; 15 grandchildren, Kelly, Cynthia, Douglas, Hayley, Robert, Catherine, Kara, Alex, Constance, Abbey, Kelsey, Kenneth, Jessica, Samantha, Jacob, Matthew, Rebecca and Victoria; nine great grandchildren, Kailey, Allison, Josephine, Angela, Harley, Dallas, Loralei, Josephine and Dominick; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Constance; two brothers, Richard Civil and Thomas Civil; two sisters-in-law, Helen Civil and Jean Dryzga.
A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 PM, Friday, January 13, 2017 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM until service time. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church 12171 Iona Road, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
