Robert Lewis McSparin

September 26, 1943 - July 4, 2022

Robert Lewis McSparin, a resident of Fort Myers Beach, Florida for the past 50 years, and formerly of Cassville, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 at his home.

Bob was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 26, 1943 to Lewis and Dorothy Merrifield. After his parents divorced, in 1954 Dorothy married Clyde McSparin, and in 1959, when his birth father passed away, Clyde adopted Bob and his sister, Priscilla.

The family had many adventures, moving frequently to job sites throughout the US & Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, settling in Cassville, Wisconsin, where Bob  attended high school & met the love of his life, Barbara Johnson. He joined the US Navy in 1960 and he and Barbara were married in 1962. Their daughter, Monique, was born in 1965.

Bob worked in sales for many years after his military service, settling in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. He was treated for non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and service-connected toxic cardiomyopathy, resulting in a 100% disability status. Wanting to be active when he could, he and Barbara volunteered for the National Park system at both Glacier National Park in Montana and Denali in Alaska. Bob loved these adventures & wanted to do more, but this many health issues prevented that.

He is survived by Barbara, of Marion, Virginia; daughter, Monique Stam (Terry) also of Marion, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Karissa Bullen (Ben), Hannah Samuels (Jeremy), Amy Stam, Michaela Stam, Timothy Stam, Josiah Stam, Jesse Stam (Hannah, Joseph Stam, Jeshua Stam, and Zakariah Stam; as well as thirteen great grandchildren.

Bob is also survived by loving siblings, Priscilla Myers (Robert) of Ettrick, Wisconsin, Clyde McSparin (Kathi) of Paducah, Kentucky, and Lisa McSparin, also of Paducah, Kentucky; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Michael McSparin.

    Growing up, dad thought I could do anything. He tested my judgment. He listened- he even took my elementary school playground drama as a serious issue to be solved and taught me people skills to aid in that. He took my reverse charged phone calls even if he had customers unless he was closing a deal.. But he and mom gave me a good base to start from..
