Robert Wallen Rottman

April 14, 1930 - December 13, 2020

Robert Wallen Rottman, 90, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL for the past 46 years, formerly of Bay City, MI, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born April 14, 1930 in Saginaw, MI.

Robert was of the Protestant faith and served in the United States Army for three years, partially from October 1951 to September 1952 under the ARMY Security Agency Alaska in the 333rd Communication Reconnaissance Company. In 1966, he founded Rottman Homes, Inc. in Bay City, MI and operated his own residential home building company throughout the Cape Coral, FL area until he retired in 1998. He loved his wood crafts and spent a great deal of time making anywhere from small wooden Christmas ornaments to six-foot lighthouses. He brought up his two sons in the building industry and taught them all the tricks of the trade. Thomas continued framing and building houses and Mark went into cabinetry.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rethea Rottman; as well as his son, Robert David Rottman.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joice Rottman of North Fort Myers; two children, Mark Rottman (Janice) of North Fort Myers, and Thomas Rottman (Denise) of Chattanooga, TN; three grandchildren, Ryan Rottman (Mary), Christopher Rottman (Jon-Michael), and Rochelle Haveman; as well as eleven great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews

    I was fortunate enough to receive a few of the little wooden angels he made, Mark & Jan sent the beautiful angels on a 3,000 mile trip to me each year & I LOVE them. He used to make angels….now he IS one. R.I.P. Mr Rottman
