Rosalinda Sanchez

Rosalinda Sanchez, 79, a resident of Fort Myers for over 50 years, formerly of Texas, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 in Fort Myers. She was born August 29, 1939 in La Paloma, TX to Jose Angel and Flavia Leal, now deceased.

Rosalinda was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Jesus the Worker Catholic Church in Fort Myers. She worked in the fields from a young age. As a teenager, in her hometown, she was crowned La Reyna de La Paloma. In 1971, she started working for the Lee County School Board with the Title 1 Migrant Education, where she helped enroll children in the school system. She continued to care for the families outside of the call of duty throughout her years employed there. She eventually retired after 42 years to care for her husband. Rosalinda was a very giving person, not only with her own family, but with every person that crossed her path. She would put others first before herself. She was well known throughout the community as Doña Rosita. She was respected by many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her four loving children, Velma Carrillo and partner, Jimmy Soto of Ft. Myers, Silvia Urbina (Candelario) of Ft. Myers, Adan Sanchez, Jr. (Beverly Whooten) also of Ft. Myers and Cynthia Salas (Jesus) of Lehigh Acres; five siblings, Lilly Martin of CA, Marta Longoria of Ft. Myers, Flavia Martinez (Francisco) of Ft. Myers, Paula Naranjo (Manuel) of Ft. Myers and Romero Naranjo of Chino, CA; seventeen grandchildren as well as eleven great grandchildren.

Rosalinda was preceded in death by her husband Adan Sanchez in 2013; a son, Nicanor Sanchez; as well as three brothers and three sisters.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Our Jesus the Worker Catholic Church, 881 Nuna Ave, Ft. Myers, FL 33905 with Father Jose Del Olmo officiating. An immediate burial will follow at Fort Myers Cemetery, 3200 Michigan Ave, Ft. Myers, FL.
