Rose Elena Taylor

June 9, 1924 - September 25, 2021

Rose Elena Taylor, 97, a resident of Lee County, Florida since 1967, peacefully passed away at her home in Fort Myers on Saturday, September 25, 2021. She was born June 9, 1924, in Isabella, Puerto Rico.

Rose was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St. Francis Xavier Church in Fort Myers. She was a volunteer at Lee Memorial Hospital until she started her family, but as her three sons were born, she became a stay-at-home mom. As the boys started school, she then became a volunteer at their various schools. Rose was the consummate mother, and wherever her sons were, so was she. For those of you that knew Rose well, often heard her refer to her sons as “my pieces of gold”, she truly meant that.

Very seldom could Rose be found without a smile on her face. She loved people, was generous beyond measure, and often visited Puerto Rico to spend time with her family there. Rose was a humble woman with a great sense of humor and would be the first to laugh at herself. She was quick to forgive, never vindictive, but she never forgot a wrong. She loved shopping, especially her shoes, and once bought a pair that was too small because she “liked the way they looked”. “Besides” she said, “they were on sale!” That was Rose.

Rose was basically a homebody, but she did love to travel occasionally, which was a good thing since her husband, Glen, travelled constantly for his work, and she and the boys usually went with him. However, in the last season of her life, as her sons grew up and her nest was empty, Rose could be found at home, digging in the dirt, tending her house, and visiting with friends and family. She lived a long and fruitful life and was a joy to be around until the very end.

She is survived by her loving children, Ken Taylor (KC) of Fort Myers, Florida, and Don Taylor (Julie) of Fort Myers, Florida; her daughter-in-law, Jackie Taylor/Murphy (Lee) of Cape Coral, Florida; her grandchildren, Rachael, Shannon, Ben and Glennie; as well as a number of great grandchildren. To Rose, her family was her life.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Maria Morales; her husband, Glen K. Taylor; their oldest son, Ben; and many other family members, both in the U.S., and in Puerto Rico.
