Shannon Blaine Caldwell “Bo”

June 6, 1972 - July 25, 2014

Shannon Blaine Caldwell, known to almost everyone as “Bo”, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014. He was born June 6, 1972, in Ft. Myers, where he lived almost his whole life. He was 42. He was way too young to leave us.

Bo was a Christian. Although he didn’t attend a regular church locally, he knew and loved God and that is why he will be with us always and, in the blink of an eye, we will see him again. Today Bo is laughing and dancing, and we believe he will share his celebration in our hearts. Bo graduated high school at Fort Myers High, and worked for many years in the hospitality industry in Lee County. After deciding to change the direction of his life, he enrolled in and graduated with honors from Florida State University in December of 2012. We were very proud of his many accomplishments. Bo was an articulate man – whatever he did, he did well. He had a passion for reading and never stopped learning. He was an enthusiastic, creative cook. Bo loved to fish and most of all, Bo loved football and all sports. He is unforgettable!

Bo’s infectious smile and razor sharp wit allowed him to connect with everyone. He rarely forgot a name and if he became your friend, you had a friend for life. Once he put his mind to accomplish something, very little could stop him. There is nothing Bo wouldn’t do to help someone, regardless of the situation. He was giving and loving and smart and funny. He was tender and compassionate; Bo was everything a parent could ever want, and he was loved beyond measure.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Kathryn “KC” Taylor and her husband Ken of Ft. Myers, and his father, Gary Caldwell and his friend, Frankie Smith of Cape Coral; numerous aunts and uncles; as well as his faithful companions, Jake and Tucker, his dogs.

Bo was preceded in death by his younger brother, Shawn Kelly Caldwell, in 1994. These best buddies are together again for eternity.

Bo loved his dogs very much, so we are suggesting Memorial contributions in his memory go to the Animal Refuge Center (ARC), 18011 Old Bayshore Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33917.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fort Myers, is entrusted with final care.

There will be a Celebration of Bo’s life on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary of City Gate Ministries, 1735 Jackson St. in downtown Ft. Myers. We invite and encourage everyone to join us in this celebration. Those of you who really knew Bo, know that the celebration is how he would like to be remembered. If any of you would like to share a word about Bo, whether it be something you did together, or your personal feelings, all will be welcome. We believe Bo would enjoy this.
