Shirley M. Howard

December 14, 1946 - November 25, 2020

Shirley M. Howard (Dyer/Davis), 73, a resident of St. James City, FL for the past 20 years, formerly of Brazil and Clinton, IN, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 in St. James City. She was born December 14, 1946 in Clinton, IN to Bert and Lillian Davis (Gibbs), now deceased. 

Shirley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a savvy businesswoman with an entrepreneurial spirit who encouraged all she knew to pursue their dreams through education and hard work.  Her work life began as a car hop at the Clinton Dog-n-Suds, to the Newport Army Ammunition Plant, Scott Oil, 15 years managing Horseshoe Lakes Campground and Recreational area near St. Bernice and finally to building D&S Manufacturing in Brazil from the ground up with her loving husband Donald Howard, now deceased.  Shirley graduated from Clinton High School and studied at Indiana Business College in Terre Haute.  She enjoyed boating, motorcycle rides, camping, cruises, Indiana mushroom hunting, all animals – and spending as much time as possible with her family. 

She is survived by two loving children, Dwayne Dyer of St. James City, Sheila Gianelli (Eric) of Stockton, CA; and a granddaughter, Samantha Gianelli.  As well as four step-children, Donald E. Howard (Joyce) of Carbon, IN, Deborah Truxal (Rob) of Celina, OH, Brenda Abel (Dave) of Jacksonville, FL and Cathy Ryan of Brazil, IN along with many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date organized by French Funeral Home in Brazil, Indiana with internment of her ashes at Cottage Grove Cemetery in Brazil. Details to be announced via and
