Tammy Renee Walrod
Tammy Renee Walrod, 52, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 23 and ½ years, formerly of Detroit, MI, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in Cape Coral. She was born April 3, 1968 in Warren, MI.
Tammy was of the Christian faith and was a member of Crosspoint Christian Church in Cape Coral. She was a life group leader at Crosspoint for 12 of the last 13 years, serving in the Kidpoint ministry with children for over a decade. She loved helping children learn about Jesus and grow in their faith. She cherished the opportunity to sing at worship services.
She graduated from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a minor in Biology in the year 2000. She later completed a Masters in Science Health Services Administration at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2016. She held a post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health Services Administration, which she earned in 2014.
Most recently she held these work positions within Lee Health System: Care Manager and Geriatric Care Manager from 2002-2004, Clinical Reimbursement Specialist from 2004-2011, Operational Performance Analyst 2011-2020.
In her professional career, she accomplished the following: helped start the first home infusion pharmacy for Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI, won the LMHS Doc Coggins Commitment to Excellence Award in 2009 which signifies the recipient as employee of the year in their department, and won the LMHS Key Contributor Award in 2016. She spent over 26 years of her life in the healthcare industry.
Tammy will always be remembered for the joy she found in taking pictures. Pictures of her friends, family, and the beautiful Florida sunsets fill the many scrapbooks she left behind. She led a life of selflessness, always putting her family and her kids first. She believed that people mattered more than things and was extremely loyal and empathetic to anyone given the opportunity to know her. Whether it be in her family life, work life, or spiritual life, she was committed to doing her very best. She was most at peace walking along the water collecting seashells at the beach. She was happiest watching her children succeed in both academic and extra-curricular activities. She placed the utmost importance on never missing any of her children’s many events.
Words can never express how much her family loves and misses her. Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:6-7, “Don’t worry about anything, instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.”
She is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, George Walrod of Cape Coral; loving parents, Charles and Brenda Moore; two loving children, Victoria Walrod and Ryan Walrod, both of Cape Coral; as well as her loving sister, Darla Chaviano.
Private family services will be held.
Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
