Came upon this quite by accident but wanted to offer this small condolence from another SCHMUDE in far away Pennsylvania-USA. Long ago, we of the SCHMUDE lines all were rooted from up near The Baltic Sea in what is today Pomerania in Northern Poland. Parts were once the Prussian Empire and today’s Germany. My own dad was Theodore Schmude—a descendant of these SCHMUDE lines who immigrated to USA in the late 1800’s. Some ended up in SW Pennsylvania, some in Northern Illinois and many in Wisconsin. All were of the same SCHMUDE origins. The name SCHMUDE and the Polish version ZMUDA ((with the Z having a dot over it)) are exactly the same. The earliest known and noted family was BALZAR vonSCHMUDE who was granted major land grants in Pomerania in 1515. There is even a SCHMUDE Coat of Arms with ancient Nordic symbols. I respectfully share this data with all of the family of Terry with the deepest regret that we never got to meet at the great SCHMUDE MEET-n-GREETS in Wisconsin. Peace and Comfort to all of his family as I’m sure he is resting in peace.
BRYANT THEODORE SCHMUDE of the SCHMUDE’s who settled in SW Pennsylvania in 1894……

Kathy, I am very sorry for you and your family’s tremendous loss. 😔. I found the news searching for you on FB. As your childhood friend, I remember when you & Terry became a couple after meeting as he walked with his friends through the neighborhood. You two were made for each other, something not everyone has the fortune of finding. ❤️. I send wishes for peace. If you ever return to Illinois, I’d love to see you and give you a big hug. ~ Donna Elphick

Well here it is, today marks a year to when we said goodbye. We sang and smiled and cried. Mostly cried. Your sarcasm and wise words are so much needed on a day like today. It comes so often when I wanna pick up the phone and just ask you about all things life related. I miss you and I think I speak for everyone by saying we didn’t have you for enough time. Love- hr bob
