Theresa M. Franklin

October 6, 1960 - April 16, 2017

Theresa Mary Franklin, 56, a resident of Cape Coral for the past 37 years, formerly of Greece, NY passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017. She was born October 6, 1960 in Rochester, NY. At a young age of 11, she experienced the loss of her mother, which created a strong desire for her to live by the beach and have her toes in the sand. After cosmetology school, at the age of 20 she packed her turquoise colored car and drove down to Fort Myers Beach, not knowing a single person. With Gods sense of humor and guidance she got a flat tire that ended up getting fixed unbeknownst to her, by her future husband Micky. On Valentines day they shared their first date, and were quickly married 13 months later. They tore down the Disco dance floors all while wearing the fashion that went with it.

Theresa was a selfless person, who constantly gave of herself, even up until her last day. She dedicated herself to raising a family at a young age starting with two young boys Micky Jr and Christopher, that Micky was already raising as a single father. A few years later the Franklin’s grew to be a family of 6, with the addition of Kimberly and Colt. Her selflessness knew no bounds, from traveling all over for Micky to race boats, to weeks on end filled with baseball and football fields, all while still squeezing in endless dance classes, & constantly pushing the kids to always be their best in school.

Working in the beauty industry for over 25 years, she had a love for making others look and feel beautiful. She and her daughter eventually opened up a salon together and ran a successful business for 10 wonderful years all because she constantly put her clients before herself, and considered many of them close friends and a few even family.

During the latter portion of her life scrapbooking consumed most of her free time. She made lasting friendships over the years that she treasured dearly. Over a glass of wine and a few laughs her inner creative spirit came out. She created albums that will be passed on for future generations to cherish. Her dedication to this craft was to the extreme of accumulating upwards of 30,000 photos being stored on her laptop. Her daughter’s old bedroom was converted into her scrap haven, where Rush Limbaugh was a constant guest on her speakers.

She was a women full of integrity, who was always honest, continuously humble, and had an extreme gift for thoughtfulness, once again always thinking of others first.

You can open up her well worn bible and find how evident her love for the Lord was by all the highlighted and handwritten side notes, mixed with bookmarks on her favorite verses. Her deep love for Jesus made her the cornerstone to our family. We are thankful she is no longer bound by the pain that comes from this world, but held by the arms of Christ. Her request was for us to be listening to Christian music, while worshiping God, and reading the highlighted scripture from her bible. Surrounded by her family, on Easter Sunday, Resurrection Day, the Lord called her home, as we all held her hand.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Mickey Franklin of Cape Coral; four loving children, Micky Franklin, Jr. (Tamara) of Cape Coral, Chris Franklin of Sarasota, FL, Kimberly Franklin of North Fort Myers, FL, and Colt Franklin (Cherice) of Cape Coral; four loving siblings, Patricia Kelly of Louisville, CO, Tim Kelly (Mary) of Rochester, NY, Eileen Glover (Jeff) of NY, and Peggy Kennedy (Kevin) of Rochester, NY; five grandchildren, Noah, Georgia, Aiden, Audrey and Alyssa; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Betty Franklin of Cape Coral; as well as Flynn, the puppy.
