Thomas Lawrence Fontaine, Sr.

September 12, 1936 - March 10, 2022

Thomas Lawrence Fontaine, Sr., age 85, a seasonal resident of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Arnold, MD, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022, in Fort Myers. He was born September 12, 1936, in Providence, RI to Lawrence and Mary Fontaine, now deceased.

Thomas was of Roman Catholic faith. He served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force and achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He met and served presidents, vice presidents and dignitaries as Chief Steward on Air Force ne and Two.  Following his Air Force career, Tom was a successful mortgage loan officer – affectionately known to his family as the “Loan Ranger.” Tom and his sweetheart, “Kitty” enjoyed their retirement years as residents of the Pine Ridge retirement community in Fort Myers, Florida where they made many good friends and happy memories.  Tom most enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren, day trading on the stock exchange and cooking great Italian food.  He will be remembered for his signature Fedora hat and as an avid conversationalist who particularly loved discussing politics and world affairs.

Tom is survived by his loving children, Thomas L. Fontaine, Jr. (Nicole) of Deale, MD, and Christopher L. Fontaine (Megan) of Severna Park, MD; niece, Lois; as well as grandchildren, Mary Elle, Farrah, William, Lauren, and Holden.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen “Kitty” Fontaine in 2019, and sisters, Helen McCahey, and Tina Tierney.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Thomas Lawrence Fontaine, Sr. are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Visitation: Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 1:00-4:00pm

Location: Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146

Flowers may also be sent to the Barranco Funeral home for display during visitation and mass.

Funeral Mass: Monday, April 25, 2022 at 10:30am

Location: St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146

    It was tough following you as Chief Steward but I learned alot from you.

    Cousin Tom,
    We had some great times growing up, Hanging on the Corner, going to RI Reds Hockey Games. Busting Balls with John Ward,John Carey,Sonny Carillo and others. We also had a Great time with Kitty in Florida
    Had great lunch at the Clubhouse berore you went back.

    Uncle Tom was a great guy! He and Aunt Kitty are and will be greatly missed. May they Rest In Peace together now.
    So sorry for your loss, Tommy and Chris and your families. (And all my cousins and their families.)
