Thomas Paul Henzler

Thomas Paul Henzler, 69, a Cape Coral, FL resident since 1988, formerly of Toledo, OH passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 after an extended illness in Cape Coral. He was born April 27, 1946 in Toledo, OH to Carl and Gertrude Henzler, now deceased. Tom was a 1964 graduate of Central Catholic High School and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon relocating to Cape Coral, he worked for the US Postal Service and retired after 20 years. An avid sports lover all his life, he played on numerous basketball, football, and baseball teams. He enjoyed coaching his daughters and cheering them on in their sporting careers, along with all their other endeavors. He loved reading and catching movies with his wife. Making people laugh, either with him or at him, brought him great joy. He had to have a sense of humor because he was a life-long Detroit fan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Joan Henzler of Cape Coral; two loving daughters, Lori Henzler of New York, NY and Kristi Jones (Brian) of Orange Park, FL; two grandchildren, Tyler and Brayden; sister, Geri VanderZanden and family of Laguna Woods, CA; as well as sister-in-law, Judy Henzler and family of Cape Coral. Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Jack Henzler. No formal services are planned at this time.
