William “Bill” L. Searle, III

January 21, 1950 - March 5, 2015

William “Bill” L. Searle, III, 65, a Cape Coral resident since 2004, formerly of Martha’s Vineyard, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 in Cape Coral. He was born on January 21, 1950 in Weymouth, MA to William L. and Martha Searle, II, now deceased.
Bill graduated from East Bridgewater High School in East Bridgewater, MA in 1968 before entering the Navy where he visited many ports over the next four years. He worked for the Dukes County Sheriff’s department and was instrumental in forming the Dukes City Search and Rescue Team. Bill worked for the Massachusetts Environmental Police until his retirement in 2004 when he and his wife Linda moved to Cape Coral, Florida. He was also a 30 year member and Mason of Martha’s Vineyard Oriental Lodge.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Linda L. Searle, of Cape Coral; four siblings, Elsa Stewart and husband Jim of Florida and Maine, Charles Searle and wife Katie of New Hampshire, Mark Searle and wife Chris of Maine, and Jeane Hammond and husband George of Utah; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Contributions in memory of William “Bill” L. Searle, III are suggested to The Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, 100 Felix Neck Drive, Edgartown, MA 02539.
