Roberta Emily Benoit of Fort Myers died early Thursday morning following a lengthy illness. She was a resident of Florida for over 20 years.

Born in Rhode Island in 1943, Roberta was the middle child of three sisters. She was a graduate of Hope High School of Providence and proud alumni of the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School of Rhode Island. Utilizing her professional training, she worked as a secretary for many years.

“Bobbie” as she was known by close friends was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family thoroughly and loved dotting on her grandchildren. She had a tender spot for her cats and owned several for many decades. Bobbie also enjoyed music and played several instruments over the years, including the violin and organ. Deeply committed to her faith, she was active in her church in a variety of rolls, serving for several years as the Church secretary. She enjoyed entertainers like Johnny Carson and Flip Wilson and was a big fan of Boston sports teams, including her beloved Patriots and Red Sox.

She is survived by her daughter Heather Lovejoy and her husband Stephen of Cape Coral, FL, sons Randall Benoit of San Francisco, CA, and Eric Larsen and his wife Holly of Benton, Maine, her sisters Cynthia Hyland and her husband John Hyland of Weymouth, MA and Janet Boyd and her husband Milt Boyd of Haverhill, MA and her five grandchildren, Timothy, Emma, Nicole, Alexander and Karalynn along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both her parents and her husband Samuel Benoit.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

A Memorial Service will be held at the North Fort Myers Church of the Nazarene, 6781 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers, FL 33917 on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 11am.
