Marilyn J. Harris

August 12, 1934 - April 16, 2017

Marilyn Jean Harris, age 82, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. Marilyn was born on August 12, 1934 in Marietta, Ohio to LeRoy and Maymie West. Marilyn was a church secretary and later a legal secretary.
Marilyn met her future husband at age 9 in church in Cleveland, Ohio. She married Gilbert Harris on August 15, 1953. Marilyn and Gil attended Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee together. Then Gil and Marilyn entered full time ministry that continued for over 50 years in Ohio and Georgia. They were married for more than 63 years and were not just husband and wife but absolute best friends.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Gilbert Harris of Cape Coral, FL, sons, Gary Harris of Cape Coral, FL, David Harris and his wife Pam of Madison, MS and Michael Harris and his wife Vienna of Forsyth, GA; grandchildren, Angela Harris Massing, Chrystina Harris Caldwell, Jessica Harris Taylor, Blake Harris, Elia Maria Lintz and Isabella Lintz; great grandchildren, Myka Massing, Kirra Massing, Rowan Caldwell and Everett Reed Taylor; sister, Margaret West Noel of Uniontown, OH; and nieces and nephews.
Marilyn Jean Harris, was our family’s true north, always pointing us in the right direction in our relationship with God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and people. She was the kindest, most gentle person you would ever meet. She often sacrificed her own comfort or desires for the needs of others.
She was a shining example of the love that God has for each of us (John 13:34-35). She was a godly wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother (Proverbs 31). Surely goodness and mercy followed her all the days of her life and now she dwells in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalms 23:6)
We don’t say goodbye, but just farewell. We will see you soon whether the trumpet sounds and we meet you in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) or we run our natural course in life and step into the presence of the Lord as you have. (2 Corinthians 5:1-8)
Her love and the heritage she has left the family will go on for generations. We were truly blessed by her presence.
Marilyn and Gil decided to have a family gathering prior to Marilyn passing. There will not be a funeral service. In lieu of Flowers the family has requested donations be made to Fort Myers Christian School in memory of Marilyn Harris. Please see below information for donations.
