Although we live in Toledo, Ohio (uggh), my brother and I always felt at home at Anthony’s due to Tony’s kindness and friendliness. There was rarely a trip to visit our parents in the Cape that we didn’t stop in for poker, comedy or just to enjoy a drink with friendly people. Tony always greeted us like we were long lost friends. Judging by how much we will miss him, we can only imagine the loss and grief of those who knew him well. May God bless Tony and all of you.

Looking back on all the years I was blessed to have Mr. Serrago in my life many feelings of joy and happiness flood my memories and his passing renders a heaviness upon my heart. My condolences to Ashley Erica and the rest of the Serrago family in this time. As I reflect on his impact on my life I want to thank him for many virtues and life lessons he passed down to me in my most vulnerable and influential stage of my life. I’ve known Mr. S since 1996 when Ashley and I would get in trouble before school over the shared computer lab on who’s turn it was to play Oregon trail. From there Ashley and I became “frienmies” as we competed in coed swimming thru middle school (she was much better). Once we got into high school mr. S had instilled a healthy and respectful amount of fear in my small 150 lb. frame , his booming voice as an authoritative figure and no candy coating style of parenting had me on my toes. Anytime I heard his distinct cadence as his walk echoed thru the hallway towards the swimming pool my hairs would stand straight up with the impending doom of the patented Mr. S “MIKE! Where is Ashley! Why isn’t she outside waiting to be picked up, what have you two been doing this whole time!?” These moments taught me about being close to our lord and the power of prayer 🙂 and above all respect for our elders. As life continued the good ol lord put our paths back together in the form of Cape Coral. Both our families settled there and in 2006 once again I was in need of lessons and Mr. S was there to bluntly teach me. I remember clearing out the newly acquired building that would be home to Anthony’s on the blvd. On my days off I would go help clean and reupholstery the booths. We tried to brainstorm what to do with the upstairs and the excitement of a new business endeavor help keep my mind off of my homesickness. In these moments Mr. S was a teacher and mentor and taught me about the hard work and unlimited possibilities of following your dream and passions of entrepreneurship. In many ways he was my father by proxy since my parents were still on Long Island. Our relationship became much more stable and the respect for one another grew tenfold. I somehow became a double agent as I was reporting to Ashley and Erica the coming and goings of his day to day and the new restaurant as well as relaying to him their current affairs when he knew they were purposely leaving out certain details on their journey. The proximity of Anthony’s and my home also rendered me a regular for Kareoke mondays pasta Wednesday as the business was growing and becoming a staple on del prado, I still talk about all the fun times on the patio and new friends I made. The years have gone by and I returned to New York but the Serrago family has and still have a an impact on my daily life. Mr. S, I thank you and have so much love and abundant respect for you as a man father businessman and above all a mentor and friend. Your impact here in this life will resound though the many you have touched and loved. Til we meet again at the patio bar in the sky…

We are frequent patrons of Anthony’s on the Boulevard. Anthony made us feel so special when we would come in. We felt like we were his family. We love the entertainment provided there such as the Kareoke and Comedy. Anthony worked so hard to keep it all going for his community. He was a wonderful warm human being and We are really going to miss him.

May he rest in eternal peace, and I hope he is touring Italy from above.

Our deepest sympathies to his wife Denise who stood by his side always, and to his Mom, whom he spoke of often and the rest of his family and to all the employees.

Tony was an awesome person. A year before my husband and i moved to Cape Coral we had come to Florida to decide where we would want to move. We stopped at Anthony’s on the Blvd for Thanksgiving dinner and i was so impressed with all the activities listed on the placemats. I told my husband i want to move to Cape Coral and Anthony’s would be my home away from home. We ended up moving to Cape Coral on July 14, 2021. 3 reasons: loved the area; The Pascal home that i loved and Anthony’s. Once i started to go to Tony’s restaurant i met some wonderful people and met Tony. He was so personable and treated everyone with attention and kindness. My fondness memory was when Tony wouldn’t play cards at our table because I had beat him on the River the last time he played with us. LOL. A great guy. So glad i got to meet him. Rest in Peace Tony. My greatest condolences to his family.

I was shocked to hear of Anthony’s passing. I live in Ft. Myers now and had planned for days to hear the band that night. I called to check before heading there, got the answering machine, but at least heard Anthony’s voice for the last time. Still went to the restaurant, which was closed up by that time. Little did I know that I wasn’t going to see my old friend that night with his great smile and one of a kind voice. Anthony was a hard working, friendly, genuine person. I knew him and frequented his restaurant since day one. I even played music with a couple of bands I was in, several times there. He will be missed dearly by myself and all who knew him… Delprado Blvd. will never be the same and I will think of him every time I pass “Anthony’s on the Blvd”.. Would like to send my condolences to Anthony’s family and to all of his friends and employees. I’m sure his name will live on forever.

  40. Don Brown Sep 14, 2022 at 6:01 pm

Without question, I think I can speak for all of us in the Fort Myers Amateur Radio Club, when I extend condolences to Denise and all the family and friends of Tony. His zest for life and abundant charisma could charm the stripes off a zebra! He always had a positive outlook and fabulous smile to greet and accommodate each and every guest of his homey establishment. Personally, he has my thanks the multiple Veteran’s organizations he supported. His giving nature and big heart will be missed by many. Professionally, as a Hospice Nurse, I pray his sudden and unexpected passing will long be remembered by many with the legacy he leaves behind. So many individuals can say they knew and appreciated all he did and all he was for this community. So when I say he will be missed, I trust he’ll never be forgotten. He lives on in all our hearts and memories and will for may years to come. May peace and serenity find their way into all the hearts that were touched by his time on this earth! With fond memories, Fran Zimmer (K4FPZ with FMARC)

Last month when my husband and I came in for lunch Tony came to our table and looked at my hair and said, “What did you do to your hair?!?” I told him I stopped coloring it because it is so expensive. He said, “do you like it like this?” I replied, “No”. He said, “If it makes you happy spend the money and color it.”

I took Tony’s advice and colored my hair. Two weeks ago we came to the restaurant and he said, “You colored your hair! It looks nice!”

Tony…I will continue to spend the money and color my hair because it makes me happy and you have shown everyone that life is too short. I miss you, your smile and your upbeat comments. Rest easy my friend….🙏😢

We adored you. Funny, sensitive, warm, every good quality I can think of. He always made us feel special, sitting with us often. He was lucky to have Denise at his side for so long. I’m sure she felt the same about him. We’ll miss you.
    Love always

My husband and I wintered in Florida for many years and Anthony’s was definitely a part of it we were there at least twice a week and Tony always made a point of coming over and speaking to us we were truly honored to have known him. What a nice man he was.
    RIP Dear Friend

Tony was one of the great ones. Our deepest condolences to Denise, his family and friends. It happened so quick that knowing we won’t see him again is unthinkable at this time. We ate at his restaurant the night before his death and he gave knuckles with my husband; he knew everybody by name and will miss his smile. We had a group of ladies who played cards there at least 6 times a month so we ladies knew everyone who worked there personally. Words are not enough to have to say “goodbye” to this wonderful person. Deepest condolences

I started coming to Anthony’s about three years ago for outside Buzztime Trivia during the weekdays and outside live music on Saturday night!
I’m single, and a bit of a loner and Anthony was always there to say hello and share good conversation and humor with! He always made me feel welcome, and at home, and I will really miss him! Anthony and his restaurant gave me a sense of community and I always looked forward to seeing him, the Trivia regulars, and the Saturday night live music regulars! And isn’t that what life is really all about! A place to break bread, enjoy wine, feel welcome, and enjoy a new life in Florida!
I will really miss you Anthony! God bless!

    Dear Denise,
My Mom just called me and told me about Tony’s passing. I am so sorry to hear that and I wanted to send mine and my wife Wendy’s love and support to you and your family. Tony always took the time to come and see us and say hi anytime we would come to your restaurant and that gesture always made us feel like we were at home. His genuine smile and making us feel like we were a part of his family is just not something that happens where ever you go, but it always happened with Tony when ever we walked in the front door at Anthony’s! Hopefully the nice memories of the past can help you through this tough time.

I met Anthony 8yrs. ago when I retired and relocated to Cape Coral…. We became friends instantaneously & I introduced many friends and family members to his restaurant over the years. RIP my brother & friend !!!!!

The very short time I had the pleasure of knowing Tony was all I needed to know what a caring and good man he was. He liked and yoked with all the card players, that was not always easy.

Its shocking news to hear this and my father and his friends sure liked Tonys place to gather and talk to each other. He had the right idea for this place in this area and if I can be of any assistance please feel free to contact me. My family are from Queens,N.Y. too and it was nice to be able to relate to Tony and to see how good things were going I am going to miss talking to him.

I am heartbroken as Tony was not only a client of mine but a friend too. I have spent numerous hours chatting about all sorts of things in his little office at his restaurant. I wish I had known sooner as I would have gone to his funeral. 😥 Prayers are offered up to his family and that the peace of the Lord Jesus will cover all of you. Tony will be missed dearly.

God Bless a truly lovely gentleman and compassionate human. I just recently met Tony while pitching him a dinner show for Anthony’s. He didn’t really need a performance time slot filled but still he gave me the time of day to explore. I found him to be most informed in the stock market, a conversation that he and I and my husband were to resume this coming season. Sad we won’t get to do that and also grow a budding friendship. RIP Tony…one hell of a guy!
To the family, My Deepest Synpathy, Sandra Bracci
