John Alan McConkie
John Alan McConkie, 60, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL, since 2016, formerly of Alma, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in Cape Coral. He was born December 3, 1958 in Alma, MI to Floyd and Dolores McConkie, now deceased.
John graduated from Alma High School with the Class of 1977 and attended Western Michigan University. After 35 years, he retired from IAC and relocated to Florida where he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and boating. When asked how he was doing, his favorite response was, “peachy”.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 36 years, Karen McConkie of North Fort Myers; three wonderful children, Joshua McConkie of Lansing, MI, Kallie McConkie of Chicago, IL, and Jacob McConkie of Cape Coral, FL; four siblings, Mary Williams (Mike) of MI, Robert McConkie (Carol) of MI, Jane Miller (Tim) of MI, and Donald McConkie (Jennifer) of MI; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of John Alan McConkie are suggested to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Cir., Fort Myers, FL 33908 or The American Cancer Society, 4575 Via Royale, # 110, Fort Myers, FL 33919.

I worked with John when we were both very young men, at Alma Plastics, and everything seemed possible. I admired his boundless potential, but lost track of John when I left the company in the early 80’s. I was saddened to hear of his untimely passing, and my sympathies are extended to his family.
