My heart broke when I heard the news today. I couldn’t believe and still can’t. Man, you were one of a kind, always happy, and always there to help anyone in anyway that you could. I wouldn’t be who I am today without your presence in my life. You’ll be missed so much dude. I know you’re watching over us and that sweet boy of yours. Until we meet again man…

Words alone cannot describe the void this loss has left in our hearts. I last saw Pat when he traveled with Graham and myself to Kentucky to view the solar eclipse there. In the midst of such heavenly darkness, that twinkle in Pat’s eyes and his dazzling smile shone all the more brightly. His radiance will forever illuminate the memories of all who knew him!

I first new Robert as a co-worker, but very quickly he became a friend to us all. When I first interviewed him his energy, charisma, and excitement for life were palpable- he was an easy quick hire. While he started as a barista it became pretty clear that he could be trained for any position that needed fulfillment and he would do it with pride and eagerness. He was always where you needed him when you needed him and would always remind you that if you were short a hand just to holler and he would be there on the spot- and he always was. There is a void he has left, like a bulb that has burnt out and leaves us all in a flat gray light. His love for his boys was so pure, always sharing milestones and joyful moments with pictures, videos, and stories. I myself am expecting and he was such a great person to ask about what was going on at what age, what to expect, the good the bad and the ugly. He was always eager to share and to have an opportunity to talk about his boys. His soul was one that shone so bright and I am so sorry for this loss, we all are. We are glad to have known Robert in his time here at New Moon and will forever cherish his memory and think of him with a smile.

As a father, your loss hit me very hard and I cannot imagine your pain. But know that your pain is shared and hopefully you can find strength in the groundswell of support from family and friends. Warmest wishes and deepest condolences.

  38. Katie Burden Feb 12, 2020 at 1:49 am

    Our Pattio,

It was a pleasure growing close to you during our summer romance with Graham, you were truly a special sunflower (as pictured). At this time it is hard to consolidate all the fun memories and right words to say to do you justice, but I can state with ease that you were ridiculously funny and absolutely absurd (in all the best ways) and no one will ever be quite like you were. You will be missed beyond measure and we will all keep a close eye on those that mattered most to you.

    With all my love,

    Katie Burden aka “Momma Bear”

Dear Judy, Scott, Mary and Kelly, my heart breaks for you in this time of loss. I believe Patrick’s last breath on earth was followed by his first breath in the presence of Jesus. I pray that he is at peace in the arms of our Father.

    1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, No eye has seen, and no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things which God has prepared for those who love him.

  42. Cris Willert Feb 13, 2020 at 4:16 pm

Dear Bob, Judy, Scott, Mary and Kelly,
I am so sad and heartsick for you all. For days I have been flashing back to the time when I was your caregiver. Our children instantly bonded and we became like family. I spent more time with Patrick as he was not in school. During that time we watched Winnie the Pooh dozens of times on VHS, played “Joes”, swam, went to playgrounds, library and on and on….. Patrick was the the one all the kids in the neighborhoods wanted to play with. Steve loved our days together with Patrick. I have an ornament he gave me in kindergarten when I attended a special person day and on the back it says “I love you”. I will cherish it always! God bless and comfort all of you during this incredibly horrible time. Love Don and Cris Willert

  43. Cynthia Irizarry Feb 13, 2020 at 9:28 pm

  45. Carolyn Willert Feb 16, 2020 at 9:11 pm

    Dear McCann family,
Hearing this news was so sad. I remember all the times we spent playing with Mary, Kelly and Patrick. I loved coming to your house because instantly I felt like you were second family and I had sisters and another younger brother. I will cherish these childhood memories. I especially remember one time when I mistook Patrick for Steve and came up behind him and started hugging him. Patrick never said a word and let me hug him! He was so lovable. We will all miss him and will pray for you all during this very difficult time. Love, Carolyn Willert

  46. Bridget Hartman Feb 18, 2020 at 9:34 am

    Judy & Scott,

There are no words to adequately express my sympathies to you. There must be no pain deeper than losing a child.
Although I never met Patrick, Sue spoke so highly of him, and I can see that so many others felt the same way. I wish I could have met him to see that sparkle in his eyes.

May God be with you and all of Patrick’s family and friends as you suffer through this heartbreaking loss.

    Bridget Hartman

  49. Steve Willert Feb 25, 2020 at 11:29 pm

Judy, Scott, Mary, Kelly, & Bob,

My deepest condolences to your family in this difficult time. As you know, Pat was my best friend growing up. I have recalled so many great memories from our childhood that I will surely never forget, and will cherish always. I really truly did always have the best time hanging out with Pat. Such a huge chunk of my childhood was spent with Pat and I feel very lucky because he helped make growing up so fun. In middle school, high school, and a little bit after high school, I was fortunate enough to play on a few soccer and hockey teams with Pat, continuing our friendship. He would always text me on my birthday to wish me a happy birthday and keep in touch. Again, when I think of my childhood, I will think of Pat and how much time we spent together. I am thankful for the times we had and will always cherish those memories.

Thank you for allowing me to spend so much time at your house making our friendship possible.

Today marks the two-year anniversary of our beloved Patrick’s passing. Our hearts remain forever broken but we are also joyful that we have his precious son, Landon Robert McCann, in our lives. He is the spitting image of Pat at age 2 and he is super smart and funny, like his dad. Pat would be so proud of him and his brother Anthony, whom we love dearly.

I don’t know if folks other than me check this site anymore, but a friend did ask for the link to Landon’s 529 Education fund today, The correct link is: https://go.fidelity.com/ywggpr.

Pat – you are missed. Love you, Mom
